Agriculture in District 16

Son Jordan at State Fair

I wholeheartedly support the Ag community in South Dakota and would seek to improve the market conditions for our own farmers.

It seems everyday extremists are able to grab the attention of the media and promote ideas that are harmful to the economy, private business and the rest of us who are minding our own business and making a living. The latest attacks on BPI and the slur campaign against them are not only irrational but totally unfounded.

The process they follow and the products they market are completely safe and actually make the marketed product healthier for human consumption. I cannot understand why the liberal media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC to name a few) always take the side of the extremist. There does not have to be a conspiracy to involve collusion.

It always amazes me how these groups mock the hand that feeds them. They are willing to eat food produced while at the same time protesting the company for some evil doing.

Agriculture in general has been portrayed by the media as a questionable enterprise from the raising of chickens to the beef and swine markets. Even our own lawmakers often times make it harder for small producers to stay in the market. If small producers are squeezed out and large producers are the villains, who will be left to feed us.
