NRA Life Member

I have been an NRA member as long as I can remember. There are many worthy organizations striving to protect the Second Amendment and indiviual freedoms, but the truth is the NRA's strength is in the numbers. No other organization has the political base to hold politicians accountable for their votes on a national and local level. With the importance of this years elections, and the one I am engaged in locally, we cannot let our guard down. The current administration is doing everything it it's power to take away your rights. Local elections are just as important because as a State we can tell the Federal Government we do not support their actions.

These issues are so important to me that I recently upgraded to Life Membership. I would encourage everyone do the same - without the NRA we WILL lose our rights.

I am also an NRA Certified Instructor for a number of disciplines which include Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Reloading. I hold classes on a regular basis and my Basic Pistol Class is accepted for the Iowa Carry Permit.

NMLRA - National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association

1870s on South Dakota Plains

My involvement with 4-H Shooting Sports has given me exciting new opportunities. I have always been a student of history and particularly South Dakota in the early 1800s through the 1880s. Several years ago I was given the opportunity to become the State 4-H Trainer for the muzzle loading discipline and as a result I am now qualified to train instructors and shooters nation wide. Since becoming certified I have trained dozens of instructors and students.

13th Infantry with Son Jordan

In 2010 I became the South Dakota Field Representative for the NMLRA. I take this responsibility seriously. During the 2012 Session I worked closely with Representative Rozum from Mitchell to address the issue of convicted violent felons being able to own muzzle loading firearms. I worked hard to gain support of numerous legislators to support the changes and as a result of the debate and adressing the language of the Bill we were able to protect the current definitions of 'Firearm" and "Muzzle Loading and Antique Firearms" while restricting ownership of muzle loaders by felons.

I am also an active re-enactor of several historic time periods in South Dakota;

1820s fur trade in Eastern South Dakota

Cowboy Action Shooting and Historic recreation
